help with log on please kids have changed it

my child has somehow created a logon name and password and now cant remember
what it is so now i cant get into my computer how can i bypass the logon page
to reset it back to normal. ps i am on another computer now.

If you are using XP Home start up in Safe Mode (keep tapping the F8 key
just after the computer POSTs and log in as Administrator, there should
be no password unless some one has set one so just hit Return, once in
as Administratoer go to Start - Settings-Control Panel-User Accounts
and rest the password.

Alternativly go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and
download the boot
disk, this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system.

Glad to be of help. If you want to stop this happening again then open
the Command Promt window (under Start-Programs-Accessories) and type in
:-

net user accountname /passwordchg:no

substitute accountname for the name of the account you want to prevent
password changes to. This will remove the ability for a user to change
their password .

To reverse this change then use :-

net user accountname /passwordchg:yes
