Please do not make unknown assumptions....
It make you appear foolish.

LOL! I don't care how "it make me appear" to you. I'm not afraid to be
wrong, either.

No, it isn't. Not if the OEM CD is the one that is BIOS-locked to the
computer on which it is being installed. The Product Key requested.
Your nearly complete ignorance of technical matters is showing, Kurt.
Cut your losses before you make an even bigger fool of yourself than
you usually do in your unending quest for the last word.

Blow me, Bruce. The PK is in an unattend file. A PK is necessary for
install.

I used the orginal Installation CD-roms i got with the dell computer.
I reinstalled Windows XP 3x now.
And the first 2x i had no problems with the product key.
For the rest i didn't bought and put in any new hardware.

The strange thing also is i need to insert 2x the license key, before that
it was only 1x when i had to install the upgrade.
And there he accepts the product key, but when he starts to ask for
activation he denies the product key.

Details:

Computer from Dell 2,5 year old
I use the orginal CDs i got with the computer from Dell
I use the product key from the sticker thats attached on my computer
Yes sticker is from Windows XP.
I must say the 3th reinstall i installed SP2, Drivers for videocard, Dell
PowerDVD before activation. (i think thats not the problem)
and as last its from a clean install and format, maybe last virus also
messed arround in my Bios or something that i don't know.
Virus name was AcrolEhelper.Acrolobj (not complete sure i try to forget
virus names...)

For the activation problem you may need to activate over the phone; M$
has diabled online activation for many top OEM installs due to piracy
issues and the only way you can activate in those situations is on the
phone.

For the virus issue, very few viruses effct BIOS settings and of those
that do they fail due to vast BIOS differences. If you scan with a
current and up to date a/v product or two you can be reasonably sure you
are clean. The "virus" you allude to it appears to be a BHO associated
with Acrobat Reader and would not have touched your BIOS settings:

You are not making clear what procedure you are using.
Please answer the following questions:

1. What operating system was originally installed on your Dell PC?
2. Did your Windows XP upgrade CD come from Dell?
3. If your Windows XP upgrade CD came from Dell, are you entering
the Product Key that came with the Dell Windows XP upgrade CD,
or are you trying to enter the Product Key that originally came with
your Dell PC which will only work with the original Windows
operating system Dell installed?
4. Did you scan your PC for the presence of viruses and spyware?

If you ever learned to actually *READ* you would need to ask these
questions. Even with the poster's the poor English the facts come
across. It's a major OEM activation issue, you idiot.

At least when I'm a fool I admit it. Carey's pride and arrogance
apparently knows no bounds. He never admits when he's wrong and Lord
knows he's wrong plenty of times.

Wasn't it pride and arrogance that was the downfall of Lucifer?

These are the End Times, boy! Natural Disasters on the increase all
