help with hp 4100 scanner

i have a hp 4100 scanner that has bean working alright.But now when I
want to scan something it gives me this message.
Can not access your scanner.
your scanner is currently being assessed by another application.
any ideas how to fix this. Thank You

If you are using Windows XP. Close all applications that may access the
scanner, then reboot the computer.

If that does not free up the scanner, then Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys at the
same time (only once, twice may cause the computer to reboot). That will
bring up the Windows Task Manager. Look on the Applications tab for your
scanner's Twain driver Running. If you see the Scanner's Twain driver
running, click it (select) and Click End Task button. Close the Windows
Task Manager.
