help with HP 1317

I have installed a new ink cartridge and I keep getting message cartridge
incorrectly installed, although it prints ok. I have taken cartridge out/in
several times and still get the same message. I have now tried to do a copy
of a document and it states another function is using the scanner.

help please its driving me crazy. its an HP 1317 all in one
printer/scanner/copier

For future reference, what was the fix?

I took out the cartridge and cleaned the contact points on both cartridge
and printer, they looked spotless anyway but after I put it back in the
error message disappeared, so I assume this was the problem.
