It's a toggle...just right click again and the ones that are selected previously as Don' Publish will now say Publish...or something to that effect.

Probably not. Honestly, dunno since I don't do it that way...I tend to stick to methods I know work, at least on my real webs that I'm not trying to deliberately blow up

No. This is most likely why your images are not working in some pages. All you have to do is re-Import them and let them over write the existing ones on your web. Then Recalculate Hyperlinks 'should' fix the links.
Shadows? Never used them, they may be created by VML, if they are they will not be visible in most browsers. I stay away from Word Art, FP's Draw feature and any of that stuff...cause it's usually not seen in anything but IE browsers.
