Help with folder ownership after clean install

Mark

I had a hard disc partitioned into three and did a clean install on one of
the partitions. Although I can see the other partitions (D & E) I am unable
to access them with the "permission denied" security box coming up.

My wife and I are the only users and both of us have administrators
privaledges running XP home. I have tried taking ownership of the folders
after logging in as administrator in safe mode but I still can't get access.

Whats the difference between administrator (singular) and administrators
(plural) in the access rights tab?

Is there a way to reset all access rights on the two partitions?

Thanks,

Mark

The users names are merely aliases for an identifier. When you did the
clean install, all identifiers got reset.

"administrator" is the name of an account.
"administrators" is the name of a group of accounts.

As for the last question, see the article in Help & Support about "How to
take ownership of files and folders". You are seeing the effect of improper
protection as the result of changed identifierss.
