help with exporting Outlook express address book into Outlook 2002

In Outlook express V6 I try

file/export/AddressBook

I then try the choice of "Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book"

I then get the message,
"The windows address book is currently unable to perform this export.
Make sure you have a PAB set up in Outlook and that it is set as your
current personal address book"

Any ideas?

Have you tried Importing Address Book with Outlook open. In other words
the other way around, I think that was how I was told to do it. Import
Address Book with Outlook, but Export messages from OE so that you save
the date etc.

You would import OE Contacts from Outlook, not export them from OE.

Much thanks for the tip to Import OE Addresses with Outlook.

The sequence was

file/ImportExport
Import Internet Email and address.
Outlook Express 4.x, 5

Uncheck eveything except "Import Address Book"

Choose "Oulook Contacts Folder"
