Help with error message

I am trying to set up Windows Mail with Vista Home Premium SP1.
I have a sympatico email account, and when I try to connect I get the
following error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pophm.sympatico.ca',
Server: 'pophm.sympatico.ca', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I'm not really tech savy so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated!

Your mail account settings are good.
That type of problem is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection, it's probably causing the problem, and even Symantec
says it's not necessary:

Most of the time disabling the email scanning option does not work with Norton to be
effective . If that is the case with your system then you will need to uninstall
(Norton) it and then re-install without the email integration (scanning) for it to
be effective
