norton, changed values, downloaded and run removals tools, run spybot etc.
some say i have downloaders and some say i havent. i have removed everything
i can. things seem ok but im not sure. i dont know what to do to make sure
that they have all been deleted. Is my computer at risk, should i format my
hard drive? can some one help me please? thank you

Don't format your hard drive :) You can pretty much eliminate spyware and
virus attacks by taking back control of your computer (and staying away from
some areas of the internet ;) Aside from a good firewall (preferably *in
front* of yuour computer i.e., router or modem) SpywareGuard is a great
little program that prevents against spyware and Trend Micro PC-cillin is a
very good virus blocker. As you were infected with coolwebsearch (CWS,) and
it's hard to completely remove, download CWShredder, also McAfee's Stinger
is excellent in removing various trojans. No single product anti-spyware or
virus is 100% so using several good products is the way to go. HijackThis
is great for examining running processes.
