help with crashes

Hi. Can anyone help please? My pc keeps crashing. I can't do a virus scan as
it crashes halfway through. I've been told that I can do a virus scan some
other way but don't know how to. My son reckons the PC overheats. Is this
possibly the cause? Sometimes I can leave it switched on all day & it's OK
just doing a bit of surfing, but as soon as we try to download music, disc
clean up, watch videos, virus scan & larger jobs like these, it crashes. We
seem to have plenty of space left. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

No one can help you when the extent of the substantive information you
provide is that you have a PC and it crashes. You may get a lucky guess
from this group, but I respectfully suggest you show the computer to a
professional, someone who can sit with you at the computer and make a
diagnosis.

Rosie,
As Leonard said, you're not telling us much. Please define 'crash' - Shut
down, hang, blue screen, etc. If you suspect heat, check all fans and
grilles. They're there for a reason. If they're dirty, clean them. If
you're computer is a desktop or tower, open it up and look for excessive
dust build up (I have cat hair). If so, clean it. When I say 'clean it', I
mean gently.

It would be helpful if you could provide more information. I can't see your
computer from here ;-)
