I have 2 computers. I want to transfer files from my old
computer to my new one. I have been successful once in
transferring a few files through the file and settings
transfer wizard. However, I realize that I need a few
more files.
I tried the wizard numerous times and I cannot get the
computers to "connect" through the serial cable, even
though I was successful once. I have purchased another
cable, just incase that was the problem - no luck.
I do notice that as I begin the wizard on the old
computer (I use my Windows XP CD), that it does not
collect a lot of files in the beginning...almost if at
the beginning of the wizard it just jumps to the next
screen. I do not know if this is the reason.
When I get to the screen that says autodetect (on both
computers) it just searches and searches.
I have disconnected then reconnected the cable NUMEROUS
times. Blew away any dust, tried everything I can think
of. I have a 9 pin connection on both computers that I
use.
Any help is appreciated.

Diana, are you sure that the cable is a crossover cable, and not a straight
serial cable?

Printed on back of package: "This cable has a
crossed 'null-modem' wiring design. And, it worked, once.

Thanks, Diana
