Help with BSOD

M

Mark Stonecipher

Was reinstalling Vista Home Premium last night when I recevied the following
BSOD STOP: 0X00000124
(0X0000000000000000,0XFFFFFA800192CA00,0X00000000,B6002000,0X000000000000011A)

Now this occurs right at the beginning of installing immediately upon
hitting install now. Have tested all memory and hard drives and they are
fine..
Have reseated all memory, and check all connections and they are correct..
Specs are ASUS M2N-E motherboard with an Amd dual core 6000. Two Sata
drives, along with 2 Sata DVD-CD's. Any ideas ?

Making sure the media is clean is computer 101 stuff. Lint on optical media
can and does cause bad reads.

If you are using the nVidia firewall and Active Armor uninstall them. There
are discussions on the net about this stop code and the nVidia stuff. I
can't verify but that is what pops up a lot.

The other item I am seeing is that this stop code is caused by audio
devices. The workaround given is:

1. Go to the BIOS by pressing [DEL] during POST.
2. Go to Advanced Chipset Features.
3. Go to CPU Configuration
4. Select C1E Enhanced Halt State and set it to Disabled
5. Press [F10] to save the changes and exit.

Hope one of those solutions solves your issue.
