Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

When I try to open internet explorer I get a dialouge box
that opens that says in the title bar:

iexplore

it displays a big red X and says:

"Failed to get data for 'ad'".

and gives you an ok box to click.
it disrupts the operation of explorer.

Can you tell me how to get rid of it.

Operating system is Windows 2000 and IE 6.0

Thanks

I am running XP Pro, and I have the same problem with that
error message. Please let me know if you have an answer.

Try running a program called Spybot S&D. It's free, and
has asved my bum many times. I'm not affiliated in any way
with the creator, but I love the program.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

This one is most likely the cause. Get the removal tool.
