Help with an XP booting issue

Can anyone help? For some reason when i boot up my pc i
am presented with a screen which offers my a choice of 2
versions of Windows XP to boot. 1 (the default) is a
fresh untouched version of XP and the second is my
version of XP, complete with programms/document etc.
This has started following a system restore. Hos do i
get rid of the screen which requests my selection and
ensure my version of xp is the version that boots?

Do u have 2 XPs installed or not?

If u do, C:boot.ini determines text displayed, default
OS, & time to wait b4 loading default OS. Rt-clk > Edit
to change it. Need more help? -> post back 4 an
example.

If u dont, I dunno.

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

At Control Panel - System - Advanced - in Startup and Error click
Settings and at the top you can select the alternate instance and set
it as the default (and OK) . Then, in that same pane, click Edit to
load the boot.ini into NotePad and you can delete the two lines, one in
each section, referring to the other system. Check first there on the
folder indicated for it
.. . . .partition(n)\Windows=". . .
and if it is *not* the same as the other one (eg that is \Windows.001),
you could then delete this superfluous folder
