help with a windows critical update

i have automatic update on my dell demension windows xp pc anyway i hope
someone can help me the update is MSXML4.0 sp2 then the update #is KB927978
so when i read about it it makes me wonder should it be on my comp. or not?
i cant understand when i go to read about critacal updates but it sounds like
it shouldnt be on the computer and i cant seem to get help without being
charged so thank you anyone.

4.0 or Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 on their systems can follow the steps
outlined below under the "Security Update Information" for "File Version
Verification" and search for the presence of either msxml4.dll or
msxml6.dll. Versions less than 4.20.9841.0 for msxlm4.dll and 6.0.3890.0 for
msxml6.dll are vulnerable and should be updated.'

If it installed and you are not having trouble - I have to ask what made you
investigate?
