i opened the case of a gateway computer to run a hard drive from
another gateway whose mb crashed. i switched ide cables, leaving the
other the way it was just disconnected, i did what i had to do but when
i put the hd back it goes to the windows "knightride"(dating myself)
green stobe lite and then before loading it restarts. |This happens
over and over and i cannot go into safemode or any other mode that
boots into windows...help.

I would help to have more detail of what you did and un-did. Like which
cables were moved to and from (IDE and power) and did you move the
Master/Slave jumper?

No cables where moved from ide or jumper setting altered n any way.
The hard drive was simply disconnected then reconnected.

Previously you said that you did something with a hard drive from another
computer, and that you switched IDE cables. Now you're saying you just
disconnected and reconnected a hard drive. One would wonder why you did that
for no reason, but it's still possible that the cable's not connected
properly, or that in your fiddling inside the case you bumped something else
loose.

Things don't have to be totally unplugged for things to go wrong; if
everything's not seated firmly, you can have all sorts of interesting
problems.
