Hi,
My explorer options will not work in windows. When I boot up I see an
empty background, no desktop icons, or start menu. I can run firefox if
I do ctrl-alt-del and new task, firefox. I can also run cmd, but i
cannot run explorer from either of those options. If I try, the start
bar flashes for a second then goes away.

I tried repairing windows, but it says that there are files missing.
Could anyone provide any assistance? I know it's written up a lot in
this group, but there don't seem to be any replies, or the links
provided are broken since the request was written 2-3 years ago.

I've run virus scan and adware and spybot and they all said my system
was fine. If it is a virus could you suggest another way to find it?

thanks

Amazing! This has started happening to me too, out of the blue! I've
done all the requisite scans, plus the DOS-based diagnostics that I
have access to before Windows loads. My computer is A-OK, but after I
boot up and Windows loads, my computer just hangs. Even a CTRL-ALT-DEL
won't work (Task Manager won't load, and I frequently have to shut down
using the POWER button!).

Any ideas? Anyone?
