Hello.

Every time I boot my PC up, the c:\windows\system32
folder opens up on my desktop. I close it every time,
yet it still re-opens next time the machine starts up.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 (Version
5.1.2600) with all the latest security patches and other
updates. I have Norton Antivirus 2003 Professional
Edition installed with the latest virus definitions.
I've done a complete scan of the system and there are no
viruses to be found.

The problem seemed to start occurring after I installed
some software for a Sony digital camera.

Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 260. In the right column, click on "System32 Folder Opens
Upon Boot". Download this repair file and then run the repair.
