My XP Pro system crashed to a black screen. Now I can't
boot from my HD, my XP CD, or even the XP boot floppies
that I created. BUT....I CAN boot from my old Win98 CD as
well as my Win98 boot floppy. When I try to boot with an
XP CD, the system stops at "Windows is checking hardware
configuration" and that's as far as it ever gets. When I
try to boot with my XP boot floppy, the system just simply
stops booting with the floppy drive light still on. As I
said, my old Win98 boot disk and CD work fine...but I
can't access the NTFS partition with it. When the system
first crashed, I had an error at bootup that said my
HAL.DLL file was either missing or corrupt...but I can't
boot with an XP boot disk to fix it. HELP!!!!
