HELP - Web folder no longer! How to fix?

I have a web site I maintain for the church. It is not changed very often
but today I had some maintenance to do on it. It had been a while so when I
opened up FP2k2 to go to the web folder I find that it is no longer a web
folder - it has reverted to a 'normal' folder. Two questions - what would
cause this to happen and how can I fix it?

I couldn't say the cause but if you click file/ open web in FrontPage and
browse to it, if fp doesn't see it as a web it'll ask you if you want to
allow fp to add necessary information. let it and you'll be back to normal.

It doesn't ask me anything; it just thinks it is a folder under a parent
folder that appears as a web site.

I can right click the folder and select convert to web but I'm leery of
doing that because of all of the warnings in the dialog.

if it was a subweb before it'll be one when you convert it. it may need the
theme re-applied but it should be ok.

Well I tried it. It didn't like converting the folder and wouldn't let me do
it! "Sever error: Unable to create a disk-based web at 'folders location'
because its parent web would no be a disk-based web. Create the disk-based
web elsewhere, outside of your web server's document hierarchy."

You need to do this after opening the web via http in FP.

Thanks for the help on this. Finally got it back where it needed to be and
did some needed maintenance as well. Now better than before and much cleaner
folder hierarchy.

glad it worked out. stuff like that is nerve wracking. I know what it
