HELP - vista says no disc in dvd-rw

I'm trying to burn a CD with Vista Ultimate. When I put a blank CD (TDK
700MB) in my DVD-RW drive, the drive makes some noises for about 30 seconds
and tells me there is no disc in there. The drive worked fine before I
upgraded to Vista and it works fine reading discs, but doesn't seem to
recognize a blank disc when it sees one. please help!!!

Have you updated the drivers for the DVD burner? What software are you using
to burn with? Have you checked the control panel to see if there is a
conflict?

I went through the steps of updating the driver, but Windows tells me it
already has the latest driver (windows cdrom.sys, version 6.0.6000.16386)
that I should need. It concerns me that it's just CDrom.sys, with no talk of
RW in the title.

Also, my drive is a LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S ATA Device, if that helps.

I'm trying any software I can, from Windows to Media Player. I don't even
get prompted for anything when I put the blank disk in (where I would expect
some sort of autorun menu to give me options for a blank disk). If I go to
"Format", it tells me there is no disk in Drive E:.

I've seen this several times and it's usually the firmware for the drive.
Try either the PC manufacturer if it came as part of a system or the drive
manufacturer otherwise.
