Help...upgraded to newest driver...lot of problems.

Tonight I upgraded the drivers for my Radeon 9700 pro... Catalyst 4.2
graphics drivers.

I did this because I just picked up Call of Duty. I noticed after loading
the game (after installing the new drivers), the game is VERY dark, and the
in-game brightness control does nothing when I adjust it. I have also lost
control over brightness/contrast with my monitors. I've tried adjusting them
with the on-board brightness/contrast controls and the screen doesnt change
a bit. The only way I can get it to change is by going into the color tab in
the advanced display options for ati/windows.

Anyone know why this is??? I'm up to date on my service packs and
whatnot....

Well after some minor futzing, I can now control the brightness/contrast via
the monitors...

However, call of duty is still too dark and I still have no control over the
in-game brightness.

It's also crashing and some of those times, I get an error saying the card
has quit accepting 3d acceleration directions from that VPU recover feature.
If that doesnt come up, my system freezes completely, requiring a hard
reset.

I got around the brightness issue by goign into the ATI control panel,
selecing the color tab, and then clicking on the Full Screen 3D button.
Then I adjusted the brightness right there below that.
