Help system crash

Hello,

My lovely wife, trust me I am being very sarcastic at the moment, messed
up my laptop. It was running xp pro upgraded from xp home. Some how she
started to reinstall windows. Now my system wont boot up. I am currently
reinstalling the os on \windows1. Once this is done how can I recover all of
my applications and settings etc. This was is also the one I use for work so
I need help asap so I can hopefully fix it and not let me boss know. I truly
appreciate any help!!! Thanks.

You need to do a repair install, using xp disk, of the correct win folder.
Reinstalling into 'windows1' will simply give you another installation,
assuming that wasnt the origonal folder, if it was it would seem you have
multiple installations of winxp
