HELP svc.host problem

after a while of being online my computer gets real slow
if i check task manager it says cpu is 100% and svchost is
using 99%. if it is a virus or worm mcafee does't find it
what can i do

Try disabling your antivirus while you are online OR do that when svchost get's out of line and see if there is a change. You can browse safely with all your ActiveX disabled; your Java disabled; and all the Scripting disabled.
Right-click IE icon on desktop | Properties | Security | Custom Level...

Hi Heather:

I had this same problem some time ago and read a message
on Symantec's web site (Norton Anti-Virus) that suggested
doing the following to get rid of the svc.host problem...
Go to START--RUN-- and enter the following: %windir%
\system32\drivers. The when the screen comes up, cursor
down (all alphbetical order files) to find the line that
shows the svchost. Highlight it and delete it. (You can
always restore it from the Re-cycle bin if you are afraid
of this action).Then re-boot and see if that helps. It
sure fixed my problem.

svchost is a System Protected File in Windows 2000. Hey you know what Frank? That file svchost.exe should NOT be in there in the drivers subfolder. If it is it is likely NOT
