I installed Service Pack 1 about two weeks ago and ever
since I have been receiving a message after leaving my
computer on stand-by. I don't get the message every time
it's left on stand-by, but frequently enough that it
worries me. The message appears on a blue screen and
reads in part "A problem has been detected and windows
has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problems seems to be caused by the following file:
ialmdev5.dll" At the bottom of the message it talks
about "dumping physical memory."

I have tried several actions to no avail. First, I tried
using system restore but that didn't work. Next, I tried
reinstalling SP1, this time disenabling my anti-virus
software in case that messed with the first install.
Last, I used the "remove programs" option to uninstall
the second SP1 install. I am not sure, however, if the
system restore uninstalled my first SP1 install and if
this is what's still affecting my computer.

I have searched and search for an answer on both the
microsoft website and google. Can anyone help?

I did a quick google search on the filename, and did manage to find an .inf
file that looks related. From that, it appears that your system has an
Intel graphics adapter and it's having a problem with the Intel video
driver and standby mode.

I'd suggest looking for an updated video driver, and possibly adjusting the
settings if it continues to be unstable. Uninstalling the current driver
and re-installing it may also help.
