I need help setting this up. I think the wifi router 1 is set up
incorrectly [heres a small diagram of what I am trying to accomplish,
please dont ask why I want to do this...I just do] I saw somewhere
that I need to disable dhcp on wifi router 1, but I'm not sure.

wifi router1 ---- [lan]Laptop[wifi card] ) ) ) ) wifi router2

I am setting up ICS on the wifi card on my laptop, and then plugging
in another wifi router into the lan port of my laptop. the problem is
I dont think wifi router1 is getting the right IP address, gateway,
dns, etc, ... from the lan port of my laptop.

Forget "why," *what* are you trying to accomplish? Routers don't
generally act as clients, which is what you seem to think is supposed to
be happening.

Is router2 connected to the Internet? And are you attempting to share
that Internet connection with other computers connected to router1?

sorry I should have said that router 2 is connected to the internet
(from a cable modem) and that is how my laptop is getting the
internet. I am trying to create a mobile hotspot. I saw someone do
this on a blog, but they did not specify any information, all they
said was "enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" and BAM, its works.

If what you want to accomplish is to share the Internet connection from
your laptop (which it, in turn, gets from router2) to computers
connected either wirelessly or wired to router1, then --

- disable DHCP on router1
- connect the Ethernet cable from your laptop NIC to one of the LAN
jacks on router1
- do not connect anything to the WAN/Internet jack on router1
See http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

I would think that if a wireless client could connect to router1 it
could also connect to router2 -- unless, of course, router2 is
restricted in some way, such as for paying customers. In that case, the
owner of router2 may not be very happy if he figures out what you are doing.

theres still a problem, my router is wireless ONLY, no LAN ports, and
just one WLAN port
