I've lost the little bar whats show up, at the top of the page, when you
require an activeX control(What has been coming up is a small box in the
middle of the screen with some-thing like this in it; Click here for ActiveX
control, but when i do nothing happens)!!! So, when i'm trying to download a
programme what needs activeX i cann't seem to do anything!!! Examples of what
i'm trying to download is macromedia flash player and the shockwave player!!!
I have no idea what has happened, so could some-one please, please help me?(i
would be very great-full for any help what so ever) I'm on XP home sp2 and
IE6, if thats any help. Thanx, John

It could be that your security settings are too high. In IE go to
Tools...Internet Options...Security tab, click on the Internet Zone to
highlight it and choose "Medium", click Apply, click Okay. If that zone has
any custom security settings, you may have to click the Default Level button
first to get the slider to change to Medium.

I have this exact problem except I can't use any sites that require activeX.
I've re - downloaded MSN 3 times (I regret ever doing the update, believe me,
I hate MSN) I've updated ActiveX/Shockwave/Flashplayer and MSN video plyer
and real player and the problem went away for ONE DAY. when I logged back in
the next day, presto, no activeX. I called MSN again and they said it was a
hardware problem. Funny I had no trouble until I downloaded MSN9; it seems I
am unable to un install that piece of crap and re - install MSN 8 with which
I had NO trouble.

First of all, just like to say thank you once again for your help. Try and
tested, and just to let you guys know, how things are going, got the
marcomedia flash player working, but at this moment in time still no
shockwave player! It's saying I should check the shockwave file/folder to see
if its the Xtra files missing. So at the trying to find that 1,lol.
Thanx for all your help, John
