Hi,

Can Any one help me to understand the formula:

FLOOR(MAX(E$12/12*40%,6760),5)

At E12, the value is 300000

Can any one help me for the same.

Thanks in Advance

=e12/12*40% comes out to 1000.
so the max between 1000 & 6760 is, of course, 6760.
so the formula returns 6760.

don't know what the ,5 is for, though. nothing changes if i change
that number.
so i helped a little.

ooops, i had 30,000 in e12, not 300,000.
when you change it to 300,000, the value of the formula comes out to
10,000, which is greater than the 6760.

Your formula is this:
=FLOOR(MAX(E$12/12*0.4,6760),5)

This is the MAX Function: MAX(number1, number2, number3, etc.)
MAX(E$12/12*.40, 6760) will return the larger of the two numbers

This is the FLOOR Function: FLOOR(number, significance)
In your case the floor function will round down the Max Number to the
nearest multiple of 5. For example, FLOOR(3, 5) = 0, FLOOR(211, 5) = 210

Hope this helps! If so, please click "Yes" below.

thanks for the help Susan.

It helped me a lot

=e12/12*40% comes out to 1000.

The 5 is part of the FLOOR Funtion. The FLOOR Function rounds the MAX number
down to the nearest multiple of 5. See my previous post.
