Help! Reinstalled XP and cannot access old My Documents

I reinstalled XP without reformatting my drive after virus infection. The
old user did not appear on the list of users but did have a folder under Docs
& Settings. I was able to copy over everything that was on the Desktop, but
I cannot open OR delete the My Documents. That original user was never
password protected, but it says Access is Denied. I'd like to be able to
access and copy over those files. If that is not at all possible, I'd like
to delete it as it is eating up 10-15 gigs of memory. I have tried renaming
the computer and/or users to duplicate the original and get access but that
has not worked.

Also, and much less importantly, after re-installing all of the most recent
video drivers, etc., my video playback is dark and I cannot find how to play
with the settings.

Thank you.

Read *carefully* - do not just skim the page and start following steps.
There is important information there dependent on the version of Windows XP
you have.

Video drivers from the manufacturer's web site?
Did you go into the advanced options for said card/drivers yet?
Overlay and the likes?
