HELP!! reinstallation issues

i recently installed windows XP on my dell latitude. it worked for a few
weeks, but now it seems to be having issues. i talked to a dell technician
(who was NOT very helpful) and he told me to flash my bios...which i did, but
it still doesnt work. a microsoft technician suggested that after flashing
the bios i should reinstall windows, but i don't know how. my computer is
shot, i can only log in for about 5 seconds before it send me an error
screen. what do i do?

It depends on what method Dell provided for reinstalling the OS.
Contact their tech support.

insert the os cd in cd or dvd drive,exit ant program that might run,restart
computer and when the dell logo appears push f12. If the os logo appears then
wait for the desktop and shut down again do thid till you see the dell logo
and push f12.use the arrow keys to select cd-dvdrom and then press enter.when
the press any key to bootmessage appears then press any key/ When the windows
xp setup screen apears select to set up windows now.Accept the licensing
agreement.select esc to select the fresh copy option.Press enter to select
the highlighted partition {recommended}. Then follow instructions on the
screen.The windows xp setup screen appears it will begin to install devices
and copy files. You computer will automatically restart multiple times. when
you see push any button to boot from cd, DO NOT PRESS ANY KEY. the regional
languege screen appears, select the settings for your location and push next.
enter info on the personalize your software page and then click next, for
home edition at the whats your computers name screen either enter yours or
just accept the one it gives you. If it is a professional version it will be
the name and administrator you can add one or accept the one it gives you.
Then click next. If you have a modem installed then the modem dialing info
will appear. Add you info then push next. enter date and time then push next.
If you computer has a network adaptor then then click TYPICAL in the
networking settings. If it doesnt have one then you will not see thid
screen.if yours is xp professionalyoull need further network info like domain
or workgroup. If you dont know them then accept the default one.Widows
installs the operating components and configures the computer. The computer
automatically restarts.when it restarts you will see the press any key
message again.DO NOT PRESS ANY KEY> welcome to microsoft screen appears.
click next. skip the How will this computer connect to the internet screen.
when the register with microsoft screen appears choose no not at this time
and then next. when the who will use this computer screen appears you can
choose up to 5 users.click next. Click finish and then remove the cd. You
will have to reinstall appropriate drivers and virus protection software. And
of course all other software. GOOD LUCK
