help regarding strange mapped network drive

Hi,

I am running Windows 2000 Server SP3.

All of a sudden in My Computer we have a strange mapped network drive
showing up. The drive has a red X as though it is disconnected.

We cannot disconnect the mapped drive, and when we open it (even though it
shows as disconnected sometimes), it goes to the user's folder (as specified
in our login script, even though an additional drive letter already is mapped
to the user's folder). When it does open, it still shows as disconnected but
we get to the user's folder (that was specified in the log in script).

I can't fathom why this is happening I am totally baffled, and no idea how
to get rid of it. I cannot right click - disconnect because I get a network
drive could not be found error. When I go up to tools-disconnect network
drive it does not show in this list either.

The drive letter does not show up in disk management, and I can't make it go
away. I have been trying to install updates for other programs but I cannot
because this drive letter keeps getting in the way.

From a command prompt try;

net use /persistent:no
net use * /delete /y

restart for effect.
