help regarding logonui.exe mod

Need help pls. - I tried to change my logonui.exe by copying a modified one and overwriting it on safe mode, problem is the modified one i used wasn't used, apparently i mistakenly renamed the windows games program spider.exe and renamed and overwrited it over the logonui.exe, therefore the spider.exe program is now logonui.exe. So whenever i start up instead of the regular log on screen that i get i get the game spider. I tried to change it in safe mode on command prompt, but i still get the same logon (game), i only have one OS on my PC so i can't long on another OS, PLZ HELP!!! I am running XP home. If you need any info, just email me....THNKS!!!

lol nice one

go here and download a new logonui.exe
http://www.themexp.org/listings.php?type=login&cat=2&view=downloads

then

1.. Reboot your machine and press F8 before your boot screen kicks in.
This will bring up a menu screen with a choice called "Safe mode with
command prompt." Select it and press Enter.

2.. Log in as administrator.

3.. At the command prompt, type "cd c:\windows\system32" (without the
quotes) and press Enter.

4.. At the command prompt, type "copy new_logonui.exe logonui.exe" (no
quotes) and press Enter. Make sure you use the actual name of the new
logonui.exe file.

5.. At the command prompt, type "yes" (no quotes). Press Enter to
overwrite the original file.

6.. At the command prompt, type "shutdown -r" (no quotes). Pressing Enter
will then restart your computer.

thnks....but the thing is that i can't even get to the original log-in screen, instead of logging as any user...i get the stupid spider card game....i tried to exit, win the game, stop game... and it would just reload the game again... so its a neverending loop...and i can't get to the normal logon screen to use any users, either in normal mode or in safe mode with command prompt. i have two back-up copies of my original logonui.exe, but i can't even get a command prompt to overwrite the logonui.exe with the back up i have to begin with...any help pls...thnks

by any chance you know where i could get a MS XP home boot disk...or should i just reinstall windows?

you can just use a normal win 98 etc startup floppy
get one if you dont have one from

http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

if you use ntfs filesystem you will need an ntfs aware bootdisk also
available from that site that allows you to read and write to ntfs
harddrives
from dos.

Hi Pogz,

You are mis-understanding what CeeDee is telling you to do. Right after the POST ends, start tapping the [F8] key. You will then
receive a menu one of those options is 'Safe Mode With Command Prompt'.

The above is done directly after POST and before Windows loads.

Ciao . . .
