Help: Question about gateway server.

A Win2000 server with 2 network adapters links two subnet.
Sometime, I ping a address in subnet A from the server but fail. I
disconnect subnet B while power is on (remove the wire), then ping to that
address which is in subnet A is OK.

I don't why.
 
You can see varied results depending on how you have your subnet masks
setup. Removing the wire from subnet b disables the nic for that network, so
the reply will come out the wrong interface.
