I work from home on an XP(SP2) box. I have a Netgear wireless ADSL
router and I am pretty much permanently connected to our main office by
VPN (PPTP). The Netgear router is doing DHCP and the home net is
192.168.1.0 (Mask 255.255.255.0)
Our main office has a single PDC (Windows 2000 Server). My computer is a
member of the domain, but I log on to it with a local account. The
office subnet is 192.168.0.0 (Mask 225.255.255.192)
All fine so far...
I also have a laptop at home (running Win2k). How can I allow selected
users who log on to the laptop to access files on the XP box? I have
tried numerous ways - all fail, unless I use 'Log on with a different
account' and enter Administrator and password.
Should I not have the home machines as part of the Office Domain? I am
concerned about changing this as synchronisation software on the server
uses domain credentials to update files on my system. I also do not want
to lose the ability to browse files on the office network.
Any pointers appreciated!
thanks
