Hope someone can help me my partner has a computer
windows xp she has installed a few programs ans deleted
some.
1st problem:- Is when she goes online her search engine
freezes up. (Using freeserve home page then clicking on a
link when it appears makes an image and unable to open
the web page). What can i do to sort this out?
2nd Problem:- She has partitioned the hard drive into
three. How do i re-format the whole drive partition it
into 3? I will then install all the software again.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition(s), then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. After installing Windows XP, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

7. It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except for you mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.
After XP is installed, visit the support website of the manufacturer
of each hardware device to obtain the latest drivers or software
designed to work with Windows XP.

8. Saving Files and Settings (if desired - perform before doing above):

1. Create a new folder on your Desktop and name it.
2. Open XP's Files and Setting Transfer Wizard
3. Select "Old Computer"
4. Select "Other" and Browse to the Desktop folder you created
5. The Wizard will create a file in the folder. The file is named "USMT2.UNC"
6. Record the "USMT2.UNC" file to a CD
7. After you have installed XP and your programs, open the
Files & Settings Transfer Wizard and select "New Computer"
8. Select "I don't need the Wizard Disk......"
9. Browse to your CD Drive and insert the CD containing the "USMT2.UNC" file.
10. Your Files and Settings will begin installing on the new drive.
