There is usually a way to perform a "restore" of your system by hitting one
of the F function keys at boot up. Go to the Acer website and search for
documentation about this procedure. Without a real Windows installation DVD
you will not be able to do a clean install of Vista. This is one of the
reasons I will not purchase a computer from Acer, Emachines, HP or most of
the other makers. Dell is the only major maker I know of that does provide
a real Windows installation disk with all of their computers.

Hi,

Most likely you have a recovery volume on the hard drive that can be
accessed at system startup. Consult your system documentation or help files
on its usage as the methods vary by manufacturer and model.

Thank you for the info but I did try the system restore but it did not
resolve my problem. I will NEVER buy or RECOMMEND these POS's to anyone. I
guess I will just call acer and give them my mind. Thanks again you rock!!!

Hi,

There is a difference between system restore and a system recovery. A system
restore is simply a snapshot of the system at a point in time, preferably
before corruption occured and is initiated from within a running
installation or from a command line boot. A system recovery is the original
factory image that was placed on your system prior to purchase, and while
Acer does not have to supply you with a recovery disk, they do have to
supply you with a method of doing this. Most manufacturers, including Acer,
use the recovery volume method. This is a separate partition on your hard
drive containing the necessary files, and is generally invoked by hitting a
key or key combination at startup, and should be documented in your system
manuals.
