help please

Andre

I had to delete a file called "mpldfg" because it was infected with
the "backdoor.optixpro.13 virus. Now I am unable to open some programs
including the recovery disk to get the file back. I use windows 98
second edition, and I was wondering if someone out there (if this is
indeed a good idea) could very amicably loan me this file so that I
may reinstall it into my computer?
Maybe then I will be able to download a virus fixer and kill the
dreaded monster.
To make things worse there was another file that was infected
called "msiexec16.exe; I'm not sure if I deleted that one too or
simply quaranteened it. This file hasn't (to my knowledge) done much
harm, it just pops up when I first turn the computer on telling me it
cannot find the file. I just click ok 3 times and the message
vanishes.
Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you.....Andre Janssens

I'd say a windows Reinstall In Place would be in order.
If you just recopy all the files by running the Install
CD,it'll refresh the actual executables and won't
change any of your preferences or settings 'cause
they're stored in different files.

Tom
