Help Please... Windows explorer & DVD/CD

I have done so many things that I am sure I fele as if I am at my wits end
with whats probably a simple solution.

About two weeks ago, everything was working fine and then last week I needed
to install an update to a program and needed to use the CD/DVD drive--Thats
when I noticed the problem.

What happens is, I will place a CD in the drive and autorun seems to work
fine. But this program once it istalls the licenses requires then the
program to start to move the ebooks to the hard drive from the CD. Once the
licensing part was accomplished, the program was then started up and to move
the ebooks purchased to the hard drive. To my dismay the files did not copy
over when I clicked on the Copy Button.

What I have done, I have scanned the computer (daily with daily upgrades )
for spyware and viruses. I also did a rootscan for root viruses as well and
everything showed up clean. Just incase something was oversited I also ran
VCleaner and nothing was wrong then either. I replaced the drive and also
replaced an older backup of explorer. It still does what is to be defined
next.

I bring up my Computer, and my Computer recognizes exactly the correct disk
that is placed in there. I then right click and say explore and explorer
window pops up in default mode to my desktop as like there was no CD or dvd
in it. When then I go to the Drive letter displayed under the desktop I
click again (this so happens to be default drive E:) and the explorer window
once again does not display the disk contents at all. So, I quickly notice
there is something drastically wrong, broght the CD to another compter and it
works fine. Audio CD's will do the same in explorer and DVD's too. You can
say Play CD or DVD and it plays dandy. If you choose to explore with any CD
or DVD in it it bounces back to the desktop as if nothing was there. I have
a program called ACDSee and it gives the option to browse using this command.
It works...

Help, something I have overlooked and so simple I am sure but would love to
have my windows explorer functioning correctly again....

The restore from the back up came from a backup of 6 weeks and the files
both matched identically with the latest update hotfix too which made the
size 1 byte bigger 2009... instead of 2008... And everything was working
fine besides for two weeks ago so the back up was a very good solution. No
upgrades or anything prior to the use of the CD rom for the failed intended
use.

Thanks to everyone whom has taken the time to look at this and give there
suggestions. I have tried many numerous things and apologize for taking your
time up with this plea, but it is an honest plea....

Help Please....

William
