how can I fix this in order to start the : portable media serial number service

Could not start the portable media serial number service service on local computer
The portable media serial number service failed to start due to the following error
error 1083 : the excutable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service

all help are appreciated.

When you double click any service in services.msc you get its properties. If you
see the service name shown here is different. Correspondingly a key for every
service appears under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services with a
folder of the similar name. for example. Logical Disk Manager is named as dmserver.
If you see there exists a registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\dmserver.

Again every service will have almost the same sub-keys and values/items.
Any service that gives this error will usually have modified values in the
registry.

Mostly 'DependOnService' is the reason why this error message occurs. If its a
Microsft service that is giving you this error then open you registry editor and
compare the values. If you find some values changed then change them as they appear
of in your registry.

This should resolve it.
