Hi folks...

If anyone could help, I would appreciate a lot.

I have this problem:

I am using win2000.
Soon after I installed Power DVD XP 4.0, I have my system
hang-up and re-boot automaticcally everytime I finished
one movie and click stop or exit in the Power DVD.
Not having a chance to fix this problem yet, the next day
I was awake and turned my computer on, I got this message
after the system checking the bios setup and detect all
the hardwares:

No Operating system

I tried to fix it by using the win2000 CD. After booting
from the cd and get the windows 2000 setup, I choosed
Repair, but it the setup said the drive is corrupted and
cannot be repair.
Then I tried using the console repair option. I can access
the D and E drives But not the C drives.
(my HDD is divided into 3 drives C,D,E with FAT32).

When I did "map" the drives, here is I got:

? 0MB \Device\Harddisk0\Partition0
C: 19069MB \Device\Harddisk0Partition1
? 19101MB \Device\Harddisk0\Partition0
D: FAT32 9539MB \Device\Harddisk0\Partition2
E: FAT32 9562MB \Device\Harddisk0\Partition3
A: \Device\Floppy0
F: \Device\Cdrom0
G: \Device\Cdrom1

I tried booting the system using my bootable CD whic
contain win98 sys.
I could get the C promt and access all drives in DOS mode.
I did scandisk on C and fixed some directoriies probelems.
I thoought everything should be ok now, but not.
I still get the same message.

Is there anybody could help?
What should I do?
I tried using Fdisk and activate the partition, but the
same error message again after booting the system.

I tried to save this drive due to many softwares installed
already there! Not to mention the upgrades done.
I could not image if I have to re-format the drive and
intall all from scratch.
Please help...

Thanks a lot, folks!

Try this for a first step - make yourself a Win2000 boot disk:
- Format a floppy disk on some other Win2000 PC.
Don't do it on a Win9x PC - it won't work.
- Copy these files from the \i386 folder of your Win2000 CD
to A:\
ntldr
ntdetect.com
- Create a file a:\boot.ini with these lines
[Boot Loader]
Timeout=3
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional" /fastdetect
- Boot the machine with this floppy

Report what you get out of this.
