I/O operation was not completed before the time-out period expired

I an running Windows 2000 Pro SP4 on an Intel P4 processor and motherboard.

When I attempted to installed software, I received the following error
message. "The specified I/O operation on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 was not
completed before the time-out period expired".

Ran error checking on the hard drive and no error reported. Have installed
the software on similar system with no issue.
