Hi, I have a problem which I hope someone will be able to help me out
on.

My laptop suddenly couldn't boot anymore, saying that the following
file was missing or corrupt: windows\system32\config\system.

After doing some research I accessed the recovery console and tried to
replace it. Making a back up of the original and replacing it from
c:\windows\repair\system.bak

Now, the computer starts to boot, it shows the XP Home edition loading
screen, but then the screen goes blank. And nothing happens. When I try
to access the recovery console again, it asks me for the Administrator
password when I try to log on to the windows installation. I then ran a
program that can find the admin password and discovered that there was
no admin password. However, just pressing return is denied!

I am now stuck. If anyone could offer any tips or ideas about how I can
fix this, without a complete re format, as there are some important
files on the laptop, that would be great!!

Cheers. I'm going crazy!

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and download the boot
disk, this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system
