Help Please --- *.iaf OE6 - how to import into Windows Mail?

Hi,

I've read all of the posts here and not one of them help at all.

I'm looking on how to import outlook express email accounts into
windows mail. I can import the email messages just fine, but not
my 15 email accounts.

I have created a folder and stored this onto the windows vista
machine, named: Outlook Express Email Accounts.

When I go to: Tools => Accounts => Import. A box appears
that says "Import Internet Account".

I select one of the Outlook Express 6's *.iaf files and I constantly
get this error: "The import did not complete because an error occurred."

What's causing this and how do I fix this frustrating problem.

Thanks kindly for any imformative solutions you can provide.

I've had problems with WM unable to import some IAF files.
I used Vista's Windows Easy Transfer to do a successful transfer.

If .IAF doesn't work, all you can do is recreate the accounts in Windows Mail one at a time.

If you are getting the error "The import did not complete because an error
occurred." during an Outlook Express 6 (OE) import from within Windows Mail
(Windows Vista), then go back to your original OE 6 installation (I used a
virtual machine with Windows XP installed to import my previous registry and
then exported account by account within OE to get an .IAF file) , open the
menu "Tools" - "Accounts" to get to the "Internet Accounts", and within the
"Properties" of every single account setting, select the "Server" tab, and
uncheck "Remember password". Also, you may want to uncheck "My server
requires authentication" if you have stored a separate password within these
settings. Then hit "Apply", close the "Properties" dialog, and perform a new
export to an .IAF file.
A new import within Windows Mail (Windows Vista) should then work without a
problem, given, that the account does not exist yet. Existing account
settings won't be overwritten by a potential new import. Instead, you will
get an error.

Since your posting has been quite a while, I hope my response will help
others!
Good luck!
Wolfgang
