I am having real problems with my internet connection. I
have downloaded the patches for welchia and blaster worm
virus and run them, and they were not found on my pc.
What is happening is I try and get onto the internet and
multiple pop-up's appear which overloads my connection
and then shuts down the connection. This has been
happening for about 2 weeks now and I have followed all
the instructions from my service provider and downloaded
all the patches they suggested. I have a firewall.

Can someone offer any suggestions please?

Thanks

Does this happen immediately when you open Internet
Explorer? If so, click start, run. Type regedit. Click
ok. Click HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft,
Internet Explorer, Main. Then on the right hand side of
the window scroll down to "Start Page". Double click this
and replace the Value Data field with something neutral
like http://www.google.com or http://www.microsoft.com.
Hope that helps. By the way, install Mozilla or Opera and
use it as a browser instead as they both completely
blocks pop-ups.

Niky:
Sounds like you may have spyware. Download/update/run Ad-Aware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com to scan for and remove these pests. Wouldn't hurt
to run an updated antivirus scan as well.

Why not get a pop-up blocker?
