Since Friday I can no longer open files with the extension .doc (MS Word). I
am a language professor and it is essential that I have access to my
student's papers.

I can open any file sent to me before Friday, but not any new ones.

Anyone knws what can be done?
Please,
Thanks

It gives me two :
File Permission error
Click on path (and it tells me where it is, though this is not necessary
since I already know) from the Word page itself by clicking on "Open File"

Can you help, Gordon, please?
Thanks

You may need to take ownership of your files. See this article

Thanks, Harry. And by the way, The new security pack had been installed a
couple of days earlier. I added Wod docs to the exceptions and even tried
temporarily disabling the firewall shield but that did not work either.

Will try this.
Thanks

Thank you Harry. By the time I took the computer to the IT people at the
university, it was working but I did not know because it now only works with
..doc attachments received prior to Friday2th. or after I re-took ownership of
my files as per your instructions or thereabouts because that evening I took
to the help desk and it now works, but I think it was your suggestion.
Thank you very much
