Help! Partion drive lost data

My hard drive partition on which my program files were stored crashed, and
required the rebuilding with XP and all appilcations reloaded. My data files
were saved on another partition drive D. Although the partition C drive is
now up and running, I cannot see let alone access the data files. There ARE
files on the D drive as there can be seen through the properties for that
disk through windows explorer as disk space taken up. I am unable however to
view the makeup of the data files. Any recovery suggestions?

Did you perhaps have NTFS and Encryption set on that Data drive? If so, did
you export your encryption key when you set up the encryption?
