Hi,
This is my first post. I have scoured the net looking for answers but so far
have come up with none. A few weeks ago I went into "Folder Options" to see
if I could change the icons for some file types. Now somehow I managed to
delete the open and explore actions listed on Folders and File Folders. When
I put them back in now no matter what settings I choose whenever I open a
folder it opens in its own window. Also for some reason it will let me
create a new action under file types but will not let me delete an action
that I have created.
Here's what i've tried so far:
1. Setting "Open each folder in the same window" under the general tab in
folder options. (makes no difference regardless of the setting"
2. Clicking Restore Defaults under the menu.
3. In the registry uder HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Shell/shell/explorer and
..../Shell/shell/open right clicked the (Default) tag in the right hand pane
and selecting delete. I read that this would reset it and it would go back
to normal. Still no joy.
4. Re-installed Windows (not a clean install but an "upgrade" install - I
dont want to lose my data).
Can anyone help me with this? Its been driving my nuts for weeks. So far
I've came across a couple of people reporting the same problems on the net
but no answers.
Thanks,
Derek.
