I recently swapped out a Netgear 10/100 ethernet NIC with a linksys one. I first uninstalled the Netgear one from device manager, and turned off the power. Then i swapped the cards, and booted. Driver installation was normal, no problems. BUT I CANNOT ACCESS OTHER COMPUTERS ON THE NETWORK, nor can i access any internet rescources through my broadband router. I tried buying a new linksys NIC, same thing.. i updated the linksys drivers, same thing..

Any ideas?

Have you verified the status of the nic in device manager?
Enabled/Disabled? That along with checking all hardware
involved in the connection including the patch cable and
modem. There may be settings in the modem config that are
specific to the MAC address (every piece of network h/w
has its own unigue identifier) of the original card. You
may need to follow your ISP's process for resettig your
modem to clear this information.
Hope this resolves.
