Help Needed

I have been unable to access the internet on my desktop computer however I
can access through my router on my laptop.
Strangely I can access and update my virus programs through the internet
like Ad aware and Spybot. But if i try IE it does not work.

When I ran AVG it said these 2 files had changed:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll

Any ideas what the heck might be going on here and what I need to do to fix???

Many thanks in advance

Nobody except you has to change the hosts file. Since this happened, you
were surfing with administrative privileges most likely while having the
NTFS permissions set incorrectly or even worse, having FAT32. It's very
likely that this file has been tampered by malware, causing your browser
problems. Compare the content of that file (text editor) with the hosts
file on your laptop.
C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll

This doesn't mean too much since that file was replaced when installing
the latest system updates (KB928255 in particular). See also
