Help needed removing Windows XP notifications....

Does anyone know how to gid rid of the notifications that pop up, when for
instance, a network connection is made? Or when windows is running low on
virtual memory ? etc etc....?

I want all these notifications gone. Can you help?

Tex,

The network connection icon in your system tray can be turned off by going
to Start > Settings > Network Connections > right-click your connection,
click Properties > uncheck 'Show icon in notification area when connected',
or uncheck both options. I personally never saw the point of viewing the
connection icon in the system tray when it's always connected, it's
different if you have a dial-up, then you might need that. So you might want
the 2nd option checked in case there is a problem.

Thanks to both who replied. I managed to get the pop up notice to stop
using the link sent by Taurarian, but thanks also for your comments Drew....
I must say I like the connection icon. It does at least show activity,
which can be useful, incase there is some activity when you dont expect
there to be any... ie spyware or something dodgy going on. Just getting rid
of the notice that its connected is good enough for me here... Thanks again.
I hate it when windows tries to get too clever for its own good and start
irritating the user in the process. Sometime I think Windows XP can be too
friendly with its constant advice! The icon is enough information for me
that a connection is active without a notice popping up too ! 'Back off a
little please XP !!!!!!!!!!!!'

Thanks All....
